Easy day

Today is my first easy day here in Czech. And easy day I actually really mean off-day, day of no training. Not that I have lot of them but sometimes my body just say enough and I am trying to listen. Which is not always easy. But I woke up this morning with itchy throat and because I am racing on Sunday I decided to rest. Not easy at all especially when it is 30 degrees outside, real summer day in Czech. We were lucky to have weather like this whole last week. It gives us a chance to do some very nice cycling, also up to the mountains – Krusne Hory.

Me, climbing 10km long hill

Coming from Johannesburg, where we live at 1600m altitude, highest point here – “only 1244m” doesn’t seems like a lot. But after climbing for 2h and having done only 24km, you change your mind. But view and nature around makes it much easier and I actually loved every minute of  it:)

But best part of being in Czech is that I am again for a while together with my parents!

TriGrandPrix Kent

New series TriGrandPrix had inaugural event in Kent. And because their main motto is “athlete care” and all sounds very exciting, I decided to take part and support this new triathlon series.

Whole race was amazing experience, we were picked up at airport, had accommodation in awesome hotel with huge gym, 25m pool and jacuzzi :) I spent there about 1h after the race. We also had welcome and closing dinner. Especially closing dinner was quite special, it was in pub very close to the hotel but we just somehow missed it and had tour de London for about 1,5h…but it was definitely worth of it!

Race itself didn’t go really well for me. I had good swim and was leading woman race about 25s ahead Leanda Cave. But once we started cycling part, my legs didn’t want to listen and push hard. Unfortunately I had to finish race in training pace only in 7th place. Disappointing but bit expected after tough last few weeks.

I will be missing 2nd TriGrandPrix event in Spain but i will definitely come back next year. Because they really “care of athletes”!
